Hello Sisters,

I am reaching out to formally invite you to be part of our “Women's Committee” named “Sisters in Arms”.

Our mission is to empower and support women within the Union of Bricklayers and Allied Craft Workers by promoting gender equality, advocating for women's rights, and fostering a diverse and inclusive work environment.

Currently, we are working on different elements, not limited to, but included are the “logo” and “vision”, however this can only be accomplished with “team effort”; your opinions are crucial for this venture. I am inviting all women members, of our Local, to join and participate by supporting this project. The meetings will be held every other Saturday at 11:00am ET via zoom. The purpose is to work together for our Local and provide our support, set goals, recruit more women and at the same time maintain them (less turnover).

As you already know, the “Women Building Trade Nation” (WTBN) will be held in New Orleans on September 27th - 29th, 2024. Our goals are to participate and present “Sister in Arms” at the Conference. There, it is important to demonstrate, why and how we build this committee, what objectives we have planned, what challenges we’ve encountered and what strategies we intend to achieve in the future to strengthen our local.

Again, I encourage each member to participate in the zoom call and give their inputs, and those that due engage in these meetings will be the ones that will be able to attend the WBTN in New Orleans; so, let make this happen!

We have the full support of our President Phillip Husband who has always been available to help us and in favor of this committee.
